Do Wrinkle Reducing Creams Work?

There are many types of wrinkle reducing creams on the market that claim to completely erase lines and wrinkles from numerous areas on the face and neck. However, if you were to look at the ingredients in each of these wrinkle reducing creams you would see that most have the same ingredients. Does this mean that all of them should work, work the same or simply not work at all?

Wrinkle reducing creams are using more complex ingredients than ever before, due to the fact that many women will go to any lengths to remove them from the skin. Wrinkle reducing creams that are at the top of the market offer ingredients such as aloe, collagen, vitamin C, glycerin, Shea butter, silica, paraffin, sucrose stearates and many types of acrylates and polymers.

Aloe, collagen and silica are known to be good for the skin. Aloe helps to restore moisture to the skin while collagen and silica help to promote supple skin and provides for plumping effects. These can be purchased in multivitamins or as supplements to be taken on their own along with vitamin C. Glycerin; however is filler that is present in most cosmetics today. Glycerin is used in lipsticks, eyeliners, liquid foundation and mascara. This filler is simply used to cause the other ingredients a method of transportation meaning that all other ingredients are mixed into this in order to glide over the skin.

Shea butter is commonly used by pregnant women to help avoid stretch marks. This is commonly used to condition skin and help to keep its elasticity. In order for Shea butter to work properly, it is recommended to be used on the skin twice a day, at a minimum. Paraffin is something that everyone who wears makeup should be familiar with. Paraffin is simply a refined wax that is used as a medium for other ingredients to be suspended inside of. A suspension such as paraffin can help to allow mixture of ingredients that commonly would not mix well in other situations or mediums. Paraffin is in no way going to affect the look or feel of your skin, in the small amounts that it is found in some products. However, many paraffin wax treatments offer a higher amount of the paraffin; therefore these are effective in ways the small amounts are not.

Sucrose stearates, however are a different story. Sucrose is a natural sugar that is found in the body as well as in nature. Sucrose stearates are a copolymer mixture that includes natural sugars, which were chemically enhanced to create a super sugar. The sucrose stearates in wrinkle reducing creams are used to help the skin to plump within minutes, causing wrinkles to be less noticeable. Acrylates and polymers are manmade ingredients that promote many things, depending on how they are used. Considering these are used in wrinkle reducing creams, they should aid in plumping the skin much as the collagen and shea butter.

Over all, wrinkle reducing creams will work for as long as you use them. The effects of the creams will cease to exist over about a 12 hour period for most products. This ensures that you will continue to see the wrinkles when you don’t use the products, and will also continue to buy the high priced culmination of ingredients you can generally make at home.
