Christian Dating with Kids
Many couples around the world have kids and
are Christian. However, there are several people that are Christian
and have kids, but who also want to break into the world of
dating. Sometimes this is because of the death of a spouse,
and other times it is for differing reasons. In order to make
Christian dating easier for those individuals that do have
children and are still trying to date, there are a few tips
that may end up helping these people out when it comes to these
types of activities.
Dating
does not have to be a non-issue just because a person has
kids and considers themselves to be Christian. Under the
right circumstances, many people are even encouraged, in these
situations, to go out and experience life by dating another
individual that they have been able to establish a connection
with. Sometimes the trouble will occur when there are kids
involved, but by being proactive it is very easy for these
individuals to be able to embark on the important, and sometimes
necessary, life journey of Christian dating with kids, in order
to help individuals get through life in a healthy and productive
manner that both partners can appreciate. In the end, Christian
dating is not too much unlike regular dating, especially when
it comes to kids and children that one or both of the invested
parties may have.
First of all, the level of dating and the details that you
need to share with your kids will be dependent on the ages
of the children. However, if your children are close in age,
you should not tell one far more details than the other. Parents
do not have to make sure that they disclose every detail to
their children, but in the vaguest sense they should make it
clear what they are doing and why. For example, if a woman’s
husband died two years ago, and she feels she is ready to date,
she can tell her kids that she loves them very much and she
loves their father very much as well. But sometimes she feels
like she needs a friend here, and while she knows that their
father is in heaven, she think he would want her to have a
companion and to be happy while she is still on Earth. The
children should also be made very aware of the fact that they
are not being replaced. If the children are older in age, such
as in their teenage years, they should be made aware that you
hold yourself to the same Christian morals and standards as
they are held to. This may help to reassure them that Christian
values do not have an age limit or that because you have already
had children that this makes you any different within the eyes
of God.
After a certain period of time, if dating is going well, the
parents may decide to have a family outing together in order
to have the children meet with the new person in their parent’s
life. This is a good thing to accomplish at a later point even
if the children are smaller, but since older kids will typically
become interested sooner parents will have to use their own
discretion when it comes to setting up the proper meeting time
or place. One popular outing to go on together would be to
go out to breakfast and then go to a Christian mass on Sunday,
or to go to mass first and then to lunch. This would help to
solidify the family and religious beliefs of the individuals
that are present, and can also help the new partner to understand
intimately how the parent relates to their children and how
Church plays into their relationship.
