Let Your Friends Support Your Christian Dating Efforts
Whether or not your friends are Christians
might have a lot to do with how supportive they are of your
Christian dating efforts. Even if they do believe the same
as you, they might not believe that dating in a Christian manner
is the best way to find dates or the best way to be happy in
a relationship. They might think that the two things should
be separate, and therefore you might find that they aren’t
that supportive of you. No matter how your friends feel, there
are several ways that they can support your Christian dating
efforts. The trick is to get them to support you, and for that
there are several things that you can do.
The first thing you should do to help your friends be supportive
of your Christian dating efforts is to be sure that
you have explained to them what kind of qualities you are looking
for
in a Christian date. Start out by telling them what you want
to find in a date, but don’t mention that you believe these
are Christian qualities. Chances are that once they have heard
your list, they will agree with you. Then, you can point out
that you can find someone who is a Christian that has all of
these traits. This will help them to see why you have chosen
to go the Christian dating route.
Also, you should explain to your friends that your faith is
the most important thing in your life, and that you know you
are going to want to date someone who feels the same way that
you do. If you are honest with your friends and if you tell
them that this is something that is actually very important
to you, chances are good that they will understand that you
are serious about it, and they will be much more supportive
of you. It could be that they didn’t’ think you were serious,
or that they thought you were only talking and not really feeling
how you actually felt about it. If you can explain to them
how you feel, you might see that it is all worthwhile and that
they are actually able to support you in your choices.
In order to support you in your efforts, there
are several things that your friends can do. First of all, they can stop
introducing you to people that don’t’ fit your idea of a Christian
date. You can tell them this, and you can tell them what kinds
of things you want to see in your date, including a certain
amount of faith. If you make it clear to your friends that
you are interested in Christian dating, they will hopefully
stop trying to set you up with people who don’t share your
faith and don’t want to be involved in the Christian dating
scene.
Another important thing that your friends can do is simply
listen to you. If they are truly your friends this will know
that you simply have things about your date that you want to
see, and you should be able to explain these things to your
friends so that they can better understand you and understand
where you are coming from. You should be able to tell your
friends this without worrying that they are going to be upset
with you, and without worrying that you might be hurting their
feelings. You should always be able to talk about how you feel
with your friends, and from these talks they should be able
to understand why you want to date in the manner that you have
chosen. They should be sure to be as supportive as possible
of you and of your Christian dating efforts.
