Men's
Sexual Health: Blue Balls
Most men are quite familiar with the term
“blue balls”. If you are a man, you may have had the unfortunate
experience of having blue balls. Blue balls occur when
semen becomes blocked. It is no longer in the testes nor has it left
the penis. When this happens it is painful, although it is
not permanent, nor is it life threatening. For women, do not
let the man talk you into intercourse or any other form of
sexual release simply because he has or could have blue balls.
The blood will soon dissipate and the pain will subside. The
man knows this is a real condition and the woman will now understand
more with this article.
Blue balls do not affect every man, just as if impotence does
not affect every man. There are times when this may occur,
usually after prolonged sexual stimulation. How does
a man get blue balls? This can occur from an extended period of being
aroused. A man has increased blood flow through his penis when
he is aroused, which is what makes his penis hard. His testicles
also swell and if he does not ejaculate, there is no release
and the pressure continues to build up. His balls are very
sensitive, so if they have been swelling in anticipation of
an impending ejaculation and that does not happen he will experience
pain. This condition is not fatal and the blood flow will eventually
decrease. Until then, he will feel some aches and pain in his
groin region.
Where
did the term “blue balls” come from? The blood in the
scrotum has less oxygen and blood with less oxygen takes on
a blue tint. Although there are some that think guys just want
you to see how sad they are when they are aroused and do not
have sex. Some men will tell you if they do not ejaculate they
will get blue balls. When a man gets blue balls it usually
does not last long and the pain is normally minor. Most men
exaggerate the pain in order to encourage you to help them
with their release of pressure. Something that is not discussed
very often is that women can also experience pain in their
genital region if they do not reach orgasm. Like the men, they
also enlarge with blood flow and if they do not release through
orgasm they will ache as well.
Although most people associate blue balls with the adult male,
it is more common in adolescents. Blue balls occur when the
penis is stimulated for a prolonged period, whether through
sex or other contact and there is not a release. The best way
to relieve this tension is through orgasm. Once ejaculation
has occurred, the pain subsides and the man can breathe a sigh
of relief. There is the old saying, “go and take a cold shower,”
this has a very valid reason behind it. The cold water stimulates
blood flow including the groin area and this will help decrease
the pain and pressure.
Therefore, what is known about blue balls? It is well known
that this condition is not a myth, but a very real condition
that not only affects men but does affect women as well. It
is also known that the men will not die from this condition
and that many times they over-exaggerate the pain in order
to get you to help them with their release. Many men may choose
to masturbate in order to relieve the pressure. Also, it is
known that blue balls occur due to over stimulation or sexual
arousal for an extended period.
Sex is fun and promotes increased health and happiness along
with reducing stress. Sex is beneficial on so many levels.
So, is there any reason that the male or the female should
have to suffer, even a little while with the symptoms of blue
balls? No. On the other hand, there are always exceptions to
everything and there may be a reason why climax could not occur.
If the orgasm could not happen with your partner, then consider
masturbation. If there is a medical reason why the orgasm does
not take place, make an appointment with your health care provider
so that you will soon be able to enjoy the pleasures of sexual
fulfillment. # # # # #
