Causes
Of & Cures For Wrinkles Around Mouth Tissues
Many women have few wrinkles on their face,
but wrinkles around mouth tissues are commonly seen even in
the young. Wrinkles around mouth tissues are caused by many
things including but not limited to smoking, dehydration, trauma,
age, loss of elasticity and repeated muscular use.
We can’t get around using our mouths, it is the one area of
the face that is used the most. Our very existence for most
people revolves around eating and drinking: all things that
take place in the mouth. The buccal muscles in the sides of
the mouth are responsible for the fine lines around the mouth.
With repeated use over the years, tiny lines are created due
to using this muscle. This muscle comes into play when sucking
from straws, smoking, puckering lips, having a slack jaw or
even smiling. Wrinkles around mouth tissues can be attributed
to many causes, but early signs of aging in the young are generally
found in smokers.
People
who smoke will find wrinkles around mouth tissues including
the pink portion of lips as well as in the tissues surrounding
the lips. This is due to dehydration of the tissues from the
smoke inhaled from a cigarette, cigar or other smoking device.
Smoke has a dehydrating effect on all tissues in the body,
inside and out. When the smoke enters the body, it begins to
dehydrate the area immediately. This causes the water and all
moisture in the skin to be drawn away from the skin and to
the area the smoke is residing in. Every time a person inhales
smoke, the moisture from the lips and nose is drawn to the
lungs, to help the lungs keep elasticity and be able to work
properly. Wrinkles around mouth tissues are a direct result
of the dehydration of the tissues over extended periods of
time. When the skin is not rehydrated on a regular basis, you
will see wrinkles around mouth tissues. It is recommended that
a person drink at least 8 glasses of water daily to promote
hydrated skin. If you are a smoker, it is recommended that
you drink an additional 3 glasses per day for every pack of
cigarettes you smoke. So if you smoke 2 packs a day, drink
an additional 6 glasses of water daily. This is not only beneficial
to the skin, but causes less staining of the teeth.
Wrinkles around mouth tissues can be caused by a lack of
vitamins and minerals as well. When there is not enough vitamin
C, A, E as well as collagen and silica in the system, wrinkles
can appear prematurely. Taking a multivitamin that includes
each of these vitamins will help to restore some of the elasticity
to the skin, causing the wrinkles around mouth tissues to
be less noticeable as well as the overall skin’s appearance
to be more vibrant. Taking silica or collagen in supplements
alone will not help the overall effect; you must incorporate
vitamins C, A and E as well. Skin’s health is due to the
combination of these vitamins, and without one you are fighting
a losing battle. To balance out the vitamins and minerals
needed for healthy skin, eating a colorful diet of fresh
fruits and vegetables will help you to be able to nourish
the skin and avoid wrinkles around mouth tissues.
