Your
Dream Wedding Destination: A Checklist
So Philadelphia is not exactly what you had
in mind when dreaming about your big wedding plans? How
about Fiji, or Brazil? Wherever you want your wedding destination
to be, you will surely need a lot of prep work to pull it off.
Anytime you are planning a get away such as this, especially
if it is for a wedding, there are many things that need to
be taken into account and arranged. Here look at some of the
most prominent issues that will indeed need tending too.
In order to get married out of country you would be smart
to inquire about the laws of the country you plan on
having the ceremony in. Make sure beforehand that it can even be done
in that country is the first big step. Doing a research on
the countries laws on marriage and out of country visitors
will help you decide if it is even worth the bother before
you go to the trouble of booking that trip. Another very important
thing to inquire about would be if the marriage would even
be legal in your native country once you have returned home.
It would be terrible if you found out, say a year down the
road that your marriage cannot be legally recognized in your
country because the governing laws on marriage are different
in the country of the ceremony. Checking to see that blood
work does not need to be done is another aspect to check on.
Once all these factors are checked into, your trip and wedding
may be planned. Again, you can turn to the Internet to search
for an appropriate officiator to have the service performed.
You can find this information out if you contact the clerk
of records and licenses in accordance with the country you
plan on marrying in.
Once all that is in order, it
might not be a bad idea to inform people, such as your employer, of your impending trip, so provisions
may be made in your absence. Notifying people whom would have
assumed that you are going to marry nearby, and were expecting
an invitation should definitely be advised as well. If you
are wishing them to be there, they also need to make proper
arrangements for the trip. It is a must that you inform both
sets of parents. Realistically they do have a right to know
where you will be, as not to worry and more than likely will
attempt to make the trip, as well. If you do not already have
a passport, this will need to be taken care of, and should
be done quite a while prior to the trip, you must make time
allowances for such government documents to arrive. It is not
advisable to leave it to the last minute. If you do, you may
find yourself making new plans for your trip on a later date.
Finding suitable accommodation will be needed and in the event
of having the honeymoon elsewhere from the country you plan
on wedding, that to will need to be arranged.
Once all these major details are sewn up, finding
an officiator to do the ceremony will be the next logical step. Many places
abroad have ministers of all faiths to accommodate such an
endeavor. These services welcome such events, as it brings
economy to their country and boosts their financial situation.
Choosing a tropical climate? It would be wise to stay on top
of the weather patterns of the region for a while prior to
the trip, to ensure you are not blindly walking into tropical
storm months or seasonal upsets associated with the region.
It would be horrible if you went all the way down to a tropical
island for a planned and set up wedding, only to be caught
up in some of mother natures temper tantrums. For obvious reasons
it is always good to get travel insurance, in the event of
an accident or serious injury abroad. Something happening in
a remote location without insurance could easily amass a large
debt, or even worse. So plan safe, and plan ahead this could
be an amazing wedding, or without much thought on the matter
an unreal disaster. Good luck.
